UNEMPLOYMENT IN GREECE AT A RECORD HIGH In spite of all the reforms, Greece can not get over the crisis. One of the countries effected by the economic crisis at the most, Greece’s unemployment rate became record high with a level of 27%. According to the data from Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), unemployment rate reached 26.8% and it used to be 22.2% in the same period last year. The number of the unemployed in the country became 1.309.071 since 215.735 people lost their jobs within a year. While the unemployment rate of women is defined as 30.4%, the rate reaching 59.2% within the young population, aged between 15-24, causes troubles especially for the young.
