Increase of maritime transportation's share in mixed general transportation industry is considered as an important development for the nation's economy Passengers using Turkey’s coastwise lines increased by 2,9% CAGR between 2005 and 2015 and reached to 163,7 million in 2015 while the year over year increase was recorded as 1,7% for the last year. During the same period total transported vehicle numbers recorded a CAGR of 6,6% and reached to 12 million in 2015, year over year increase was 6,6% for 2015. The increase in coastwise transportation is considered an important development in Turkey as a resourceful country for maritime industry. Industry professionals emphasize that balancing the domination of road transport for passengers and cargo to have positive effects of for the nation’s economy and environmental well-being.
