While the tourism revenue of Turkey decreased by 1.3 percent in the last quarter of 2014 compared to the same period of the previous year, an increase of 6.2 percent was achieved throughout the year. According to the tourism statistics of the previous year, in Turkey, in the 4th quarter of 2014 consisting of October, November and December, the tourism revenue decreased by 1.3 percent to USD 7,667,719,000 compared to the same period of the previous year. Of such revenues, 81 percent was obtained from the foreign tourists and 19 percent from the Turkish people residing abroad. In addition to this, personal spending of visitors became USD 6,213,372,000 and package tour expenditures achieved USD 1,454,347,000 within this revenue. Average spending of these visitors became USD 867 for foreigners and USD 1,224 for citizens residing abroad. In 2014, tourism revenue increased by 6.2 percent to USD 34,305,904,000 throughout the year. Of such revenues, 81.5 percent was obtained from the foreign tourists and 18.5 percent from the Turkish people residing abroad. On the other hand, USD 26,002,950,000 of the previous year’s tourism revenue resulted from the personal spending of the visitors and the remaining USD 8,302,954,000 resulted from the package tour expenditures. Generally, average spending of these visitors became USD 828; this amount decreased to USD 775 for foreigners and increased to USD 1,130 for Turkish citizens residing abroad. NUMBER OF VISITORS INCREASED BY 5.6% IN 2014 In the last quarter of 2014, the number of visitors going abroad from Turkey increased by 2.1 percent to 8,298,198 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Of these people, 85.8% were foreigners and 14.2% were the Turkish citizens residing abroad. Throughout the year, the number of visitors going abroad from Turkey increased by 5.6 percent to 41,415,070 compared to the previous year. Of these people, 35,850,286 were foreigners and 5,564,784 were the Turkish citizens residing abroad.
