HYDRAULIC POWER PLANTS TAKE THE LEAD IN TOTAL INSTALLED ELECTRIC POWER

Turkey's power generation has increased 5% in the first half of 2016; hydraulic power plants are taking the lead in installed electric power. Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEİAŞ) has announced the power generation distribution and consumption figures in the first half of 2016 on the basis of sources. According to this, the total installed power has reached to 76.550 MW in the first half. When the installed power development on the basis of sources are analyzed, the hydraulic power plants had the highest share with 34.3% within Turkey’s total installed power. After hydraulic power plants, the list is as follows (respectively); natural gas/LNG with 34%, coal power plants with 21.7%, wind-power, geothermal power and solar power plants with 8.1% and other power plants with 2%. Power generation has reached to 131.334 GWs with an increase at the rate of 5.0% in the first half of 2016 compared to the same period of the previous year. Electricity consumption has reached to 133.782 GWs (with an increase of 5.3%).
