Operating at more than 200 airlines in ground services industry today, Havaş aims at inorganic growth by making use of the domestic and foreign opportunities in 2015. Having managed to currently be one of the well established companies in the ground services industry, the story of Havaş began in 1933. Back then, Havaş was carrying out ground services within the body of State Airlines, as Turkish Airlines was then called, and it continued its operations under the umbrella of this organization until 1958. Afterwards, it was restructured under the name of Usaş and transformed into the present structure after it was divided into two companies in 1987. Havaş was privatized in 1995. After purchasing 60% of its shares in 2005, TAV Airports Holding acquired the full shares of the company in 2007. As a company which has been providing service in ground services industry for 81 years, Havaş is the first company in Turkey that was founded for this purpose and is still operating at present. Havaş provides ground services for 25 airports including İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Adana, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Gaziantep, Antalya Gazipaşa, Trabzon, Kayseri in Turkey and keeps working in order to enhance its presence in this industry. In addition to these, the company continued its investments in İstanbul Atatürk Airport by renovating İstanbul station building recently. Erkal explains the short-term growth plans of Havaş with these words: “We are currently growing in the countries in which we operate, and trying to make use of the opportunities in the Middle East, Africa, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. There is a big potential of growth for the aerospace industry in these regions.” STATION DATA TO BE MANAGED FROM ONE CENTER Today, the customer portfolio of Havaş includes more than 200 airlines. As one of the first establishments in the ground services industry, the company makes a significant contribution to the growth of the industry as well. Erkal emphasizes that Havaş operates in terms of “being an important service provider which is responsible for airlines” in airports. Stating the importance of attention paid by the brand to technological developments, Erkal underlines that Havaş makes its source planning in a computerized environment and offers its check-in and load control services electronically. Erkal continues: “We launched our passenger call center in 2014 so that the passengers of airlines we provide service for can follow their lost luggage in a more secure way. Thanks to this service, we can follow lost luggage cases in 25 airports from one center.” Erkal states that they are also able to gather load control, balance calculations and communication services provided to planes by Havaş in one single center, and adds they are planning to manage the data received from 25 stations of Havaş in one center with this application.
