TWO COLORS OF MUSIC ARE TOGETHER Yasmin Levy, reflecting many elements of music from Latin Sephardic music to Andalusia Flamenco, is taking the stage at Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theater on 12 August with Halil Sezai, who has brought in his own touch to music in recent years with his different style and interpretation. Halil Sezai and Levy will be presenting a memorable summer evening in Istanbul on the night of 12 August, by synthesizing their surprise repertoires and the music they have. MUSICAL OF A MASTER The Marco Pasha musical is set to hit audiences with an all-star cast, including actor brothers Suheyl and Behzat Uygur, Şehnaz Çakıralp, Uğur Babürhan, Leyla Yüngül, Önder Keskin, Burcu Afşin, Ömer Yılmaz, and Nejla Uygur, returning to the stage after many years. The costumes of this magnificent play have been designed by Sadık Kızılağaç, and while music composed by Serpil Gunseli, winner of Afife Jale award, will be played, the lyrics, décor design are performed by Ugur Baburhan, who also directs the musical. The play by the name of Marco Pasha, which was successfully staged for many years by Nejat Uygur, one of the great masters of Turkish theater in comedy, is being put on stage again by the Suheyl and Behzat Uygur Theater with a contemporary interpretation. The play is two hours long and was written by Franz von Schönthan and Gustav Kadelburg. It was adapted to Turkish and traditional Turkish theater by the grand master Nejat Uygur. The play, which resembles an operetta, having been enriched with 15 different songs and dances and blending improvisation and modern theater, will soon be opening its doors to audiences. LET YOURSELF BE CARRIED AWAY IN THE MELODIES Tuluyhan Uğurlu, one of the musical geniuses that Turkey has raised, is getting ready to meet his fans in a recital he will be performing at the garden of Galata Mevlevihanesi on 21st of August. Taluyhan Ugurlu, who brings the pleasure of music to his audience and fans with his melodies, will appear in the garden of the oldest Mevlevihane of Istanbul. In certain sections of the show, Ugurlu will recount the mystical world of Istanbul with music and images, enabling a journey through song through this magnificent city. BIENNIAL BEGINS The 14th Istanbul Biennial, which continues to be shaped by several collaborations under the title of SALTWATER: A Theory of Thought Forms drafted by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, will spread over the city between 5 September - 1 November 2015. The 14th Istanbul Biennial will be free of charge and exhibit numerous thought-forms within a special range for two months at a minimum of 30 locations. In the Biennial, in addition to more than 60 artists, other participants from oceanographers to story tellers, mathematicians and neuroscientists will meet in a collective and timeless common thinking experiment. ARE YOU READY TO BE ENTERTAINED BY "MAMMA MIA" AGAIN? Mamma Mia!, staged for twenty years and always received with the same excitement as opening night, is now coming to Istanbul. The entertaining adventure of Sophie, who attempts to find her father prior to her wedding, with the immortal songs of ABBA, will be staged once more. Mamma Mia is one of the most famous musicals in the world, largely due to its funny story and catchy songs that everyone knows and can’t help but dance along to.
