Fun-filled events are waiting for us in the warm spring weather after the cold winter days. Within the next months, Istanbul, the ctiy which is prepared to host world-renowned artists and their works invites us to spend days filled with art. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IS IN İSTANBUL Music lovers will get the chance to see the Phantom of the Opera, on April 19 the immortal work of Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer of famous musicals such as CATS. The Phantom of the Opera is the longest running and biggest production on Broadway, spanning an unprecedented run of 25 years. The story centres around the obsessive love of a talented musician known as the ghost of the Paris Opera and whose face is deformed for talented and beautiful Soprano Christine. 101 TASTES UNDER ONE ROOF 101 Tastes of Istanbul Festival brings together the 101 different tastes of Istanbul. This festival connects various tastes from the most refined flavours of the city to fast-foods, and from world cuisines that have gained a place in the cosmopolitan life of Istanbul to Anatolian tastes under one roof. The festival promises visitors will a pleasant day with live music, surprise shows and workshops. MUSICAL FEAST WITH GORAN BREGOVIC'S BALKAN MELODIES The most famous composer and lyricist of the Balkans, Goran Bregovic will take the stage in Volkswagen Arena on May 7 for an unforgettable concert. The famous composer has given concerts in Turkey in previous years and played with world-renowned artists. Bregovic introduces the different aspects of Balkan culture to music lovers in his concerts with his rich repertoire. BORDEAUX NATIONAL OPERA BALLET ENSEMBLE WILL PERFORM IN İSTANBUL ONCE AGAIN B ordeaux National Opera Ballet Ensemble included in Bordeaux National Opera and choreographed by Charles Jude who is one of the famous dancers of the Paris Opera since 1996 successfully performs important modern and contemporary choreographies from the 20th century to the present-day as well as the famous classical ballets. LEYLA GENCER WILL BE COMMEMORATED WITH AIDA Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Sascha Goetzel will meet with music lovers on May 14 with the concert “In Memory of Leyla Gencer: AIDA” with the participation of Santa Cecilia Academy Chorus (Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia). KYLIE MINOGUE WILL ENTERTAIN HER FANS The world-renowned pop singer Kylie Minogue will give an entertaining concert at KüçükÇiftlik Park. Minogue, who has remained at the top during her music career, starting with “The Loco-Motion” in the early 1980s, and whose albums have been sold over 68 million across the world, will sing the songs that are popular among millions of music lovers in Istanbul on June 16. AN UNFORGETTABLE CONCERT FROM ITZHAK PERLMAN The most important violinist of the 20th and 21st centuries, Itzhak Perlman will perform at Zorlu Performing Arts Center on May 28. Perlman has won Grammy Awards for 5 different categories such as “Best Chamber Music Performance” and “Best Instrumental Soloist(s) Performance”. Art lovers are prepared to go on an unforgettable musical journey in this concert as with the previous two performances in Turkey.
